NCA network groups

NCA diversity groups are also an opportunity for officers to meet, share ideas and raise concerns about issues that affect them. We involve our diversity groups in all aspects of working life and consult them when we are considering changes.

The Inclusion, Diversity and Equality (IDE) working group maintains oversight across all protected characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation).

The IDE working group works closely with our diversity groups and inclusion diversity and equality representatives to raise and resolve issues.

NCA diversity groups include:

  • Disability Network Advisory Group: provides information and advice to officers on disability issues, works with the Occupational Health and Welfare Department, Business Disability Forum, and Mind. We also support work placements for wounded, injured and sick servicemen who can no longer continue in their chosen careers, due to disability.
  • Ethnic Minority Network Support Association: resolves workplace issues about ethnicity, race, colour or nationality, religion or belief, works with Race for Opportunity, National Black Police Association, and Religious Belief Forum.
  • Gender Equality Group: provides advice and support to officers of all gender identities and gender expressions on gender-related issues in the workplace and advises the NCA on gender concerns relating to policies, procedures and best practices, working in partnership with the Cross-Government Women’s Network and the British Association of Women in Policing.
  • EMBRACE: the NCA's group for LGBT+ officers and their allies, provides advice on sexual orientation, trans, and gender identity issues in and outside the workplace; works with the National Police LGBT Network, Civil Service LGBT+ Network and others.
  • Flexible Working Group: promotes a balanced work and personal life through alternative and flexible working patterns; works with the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion.
  • Age Group: advocates for all generations, provides advice and support for people at all stages of their career.
  • Inclusion Alliance: a network where all officers, with or without a protected characteristic (as per Equality Act 2010) can put forward and discuss cross-cutting diversity, inclusion and equality issues from all parts of the NCA.  We strive to empower officers to foster an inclusive and diverse culture by working together with fairness and respect.
