For roles based in London, your contractual place of work will be Stratford. While the Stratford site is expected to become operational from November 2025 – March 2026, you will be required to carry out your contractual duties from Vauxhall or another reasonable location on a temporary basis during the interim period.
Please note that, as Stratford will be your contractual place of work, any subsequent move from a temporary location will not entitle you to payments for travel time or costs under the Relocation and Excess Travel Policy.

The role of Intelligence is to develop the right operations, which target and disrupt - by the most effective means - the offenders who seek to cause the highest harm to the UK. A diverse directorate with a wide variety of unique functions and specialist skillsets in our ranks, some of which we deliver as the national provider for the wider Serious Organised Crime (SOC) system. From our niche technical capabilities, to our overseas network of International Liaison Officers (ILO) and our Tasking teams, there are many component parts which contribute to the efforts of the directorate and the National Crime Agency (NCA).
Information about the Business Area
The International Department works with international partners and coordinates UK law enforcement support overseas to gather and share intelligence, conduct operational activity and enhance international delivery through a variety of means, including capacity building, training, and joint European and International taskforces. The International Department also provides the specialist capabilities available through its membership of INTERPOL and EUROPOL in supporting UK law enforcement intelligence and operational requirements, and working directly with partners to safeguard vulnerable members of the community.
The Joint International Crime Centre (JICC) was launched in April 2023 and was created in order to coordinate and support the response of UK policing and law enforcement to tackle international crime. The JICC comprises officers and staff from across UK policing and the NCA, offering a multi-agency approach to meeting the increasing international demands of territorial policing. The JICC provides a whole-system approach to tackling international crime harnessing UK and international expertise and providing access to specialist capabilities both within the NCA and partner organisations including HMRC, ACRO, the CPS and partners across UK law enforcement and criminal justice. The JICC is jointly overseen by the NCA Director General and Chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC).

As a Senior Officer in the JICC, you will manage/supervise a team responsible for the acquisition and development of tactical and strategic intelligence and/or prevention initiatives focused on international crime affecting the UK. You will provide operational support, advice and guidance to UK law enforcement throughout the UK in any matters involving international criminality. You will ensure national/local strategy, policy, legislative frameworks and operational priorities are developed and promoted amongst NPCC, Law Enforcement partners and government departments.Managing a team of officers, you will act as a Lead Officer or Intelligence Supervisor, ensuring investigations, prevention and analytical initiatives are carried out thoroughly, professionally and expeditiously in accordance with National Crime Agency policy and legislative requirements. You will supervise the development and delivery of strategic / tactical intelligence and analytical products to support operations /investigations including strategic assessments and profiling to inform local/national operational priorities, government strategy and internal policy. You may be required to participate in on-call responsibilities and travel within or outside the UK – such travel may include attendance at conferences or seminars for the purpose of updating and maintaining your own professional skills.As a Senior Officer within the JICC one of your roles may be as an International Tactical Advisor (ITA) where you will be the first point of contact for UK Law Enforcement for enquiries, advice and guidance relating to International Capabilities. This will include giving advice on police to police and judicial cooperation, working with investigation teams and intelligence cells to provide expert advice on international capabilities, and providing training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
You will be offered a role within the PPEU Central Desks or ITA team.
The successful candidate will remain on their current salary and terms and conditions for the duration of the Secondment. This role is open to existing police officers and police staff.

Plan and prepare for intelligence led law enforcement investigations - Provide supervision of JICC personnel providing support to law enforcement with international capabilities.
Supervising/ Undertaking Intelligence Gathering - Supervision or undertaking of intelligence work in the area of international capabilities to support law enforcement criminal investigations.
Supervising/Creating Intelligence Products to support decision making - Ensuring that all intelligence products created within the team meet the required intelligence standards.
Supervising/Creating and delivery of a prepared briefing document - Supervision or undertaking of the creation of intelligence led documents.
Supervising/Preparing and delivering an intelligence led briefing and debriefing - Supervising or preparing the delivery of intelligence briefings, adhering to all legal frameworks, key working principles, policies and guidance relevant to role.
Provide support to Investigations - Provide international capabilities support as appropriate to partner agency criminal investigations.
Provide specialist advice and guidance - Provide specialist advice and guidance to decision makers to aid in the achievement of operational outcomes.
Collaboration with partner agencies - Build strong working relationships with partner agencies to ensure effective use of international cooperation to support criminal investigations.
Maintain own CPD in International capabilities - Ensure own knowledge of international capabilities is kept up to date.
Provide leadership for your team
Drafting/report writing and presentation skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality written material.
Interpersonal skills - Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to foster positive relationships, build trust and manage conflicts.

Leadership and management skills - Experience of managing a team including personnel management.

This role is a closed competition and is only available to existing police officers or police staff who must work for a Police Force in England & Wales.
This is a secondment of 24 months with possibility of extension subject to mutual agreement and CS Commissioner's approval.
